February 2019 Meeting Notes

Meeting call to order at 6:39pm

 Financial Update:                                                        Sandy Baccam

·       Expenses – Staff salary paid ($57K); one staff salary still outstanding

·       Revenue – benefit tickets (240 tickets sold; goal is 425)

·       Pledge Drive Financials

o  68% participation

o  $498,000 grand total (received and pledged); $418,000 received

o  Send out a reminder the Tuesday after the benefit “2% Tuesday”

·       Sasha Krasney mocking up the website – will be more streamlined

·       Email additional changes / comments to Tara

 Spirit Wear:                                                                 Tara Konecny

·       Decided to keep store open all year, assuming no cost to FOM. They would maintain a more limited inventory. Shipping costs are $12 per order, charged to the buyer.

·       Walkathon sales – 3 options; recommend advance web sales and in-person sales day-of

o  Can print shirts on-site (for customization) – decided against this

o  Sell spirit wear on website leading up to website and people can pick up at Walkathon

o  Pre-purchase merchandise to sell at Walkathon

·       Interested in adding new styles – umbrellas, bags, shorts,

·       Just Get Sleep – company that sells mattresses during a weekend event at school (showroom in the gym)

o  Community event – open to public

o  Offered to be a Gold sponsor ($3000) and a percentage of sales from the event

o  They pay for all ads; we get to approve

o  Did this at Newbury, Skinner North, Whitney Young

o  Fi is going to ask them about liability / insurance, paying an employee to open the school

·       Lake Shore Sports and Fitness

o  Fun Fair – February 24th, 3 – 5 p.m. 

§  Bouncy houses, games, ninja stuff

o  EC and EL1 

o  $10 / family

o  Need two people at entrance to collect payments

o  Put Random Acts of Kindness Bingo in backpacks next Tuesday 2/19

Inspector General Report Update                                               Mark Sassower

·       Friday morning meeting with Chief McDade (Mark and Danielle to attend)

·       Working group made initial proposal to CPS

o  Montessori 3 yrs old – 5thgrade

o  Continued access for neighborhood children

o  Lottery / tuition to pre-k

§  Proposing re-instating sliding scale

o  Sibling priority for neighborhood and non-neighborhood

·       Working group to meet again next Tuesday, 2/19
