Mayer Ambassadors of Change re Water ProjectMegan Riordan

Water fountains – have a company Elkay that is willing to purchase the water fountain if you purchase/sell the bottles.  They would like to print/customize water bottles.  Wanted to make sure FOM is ok with us doing that.  FOM doesn’t currently sell Water Bottles and has no problem.

-A member asked what exactly is Ambassadors for Change? They are a student organization that has been around 4 years, they do a lot of things at Mayer – cots, have weekly meetings, have planned and participated in school events and fundraisers.

Financial Update:                                                          Sandy Baccam/Olivia Lopez

·       Review Operating Budget

·       Pledge Drive Financials

o  68% participation

o  $474,496 grand total (received and pledged)

-Of the families who donate, they donate $900 per student, 21% donated the ask, 8-9% donate above the ask, the 11% ish is right at the ask

-EC gives $211,000 -  107 out of 208 students

-10% less at the Blitz this year compared to last year

-Asks – what are the levels – are there bunching around certain numbers and maybe we target our asks around where people tend to donate?

-Questions on what to donate – could we ask EC lower levels and higher grades less?  This maybe seen as unfair

-The 7thand 8thgraders want another lock-in – or a party

-We are getting away from targeted giving – so using just generic asks

-Budget needs to be sustainable and not allow people to only pick certain things to donate to

-We would like to keep increasing the trend, but it is felt that a plateau was always going to happen – we have very high participation but there will always be people who don’t have the means or don’t believe you should donate to a public school

-Is $1800 too high or low – should we change this?

-FOM asked LSC Rep what will happen if EC becomes a tuition base?

-If tuition comes the money raised goes to CPS – that money doesn’t come to FOM or directly to Mayer’s operating budget

·       11.15.18 Minutes were discussed, motion to approve, seconded, approved as submitted
