Get excited about the upcoming Mayer Magnet Benefit!

Are you ready for the biggest social event of the year? We are! Here are all the important dates and details. Mark your calendars because you won’t want to miss any of the fun.

Benefit Details – The Benefit will take place on Friday, March 31st from 7pm-11pm at Salvatore’s Ristorante, an amazing Lincoln Park institution, owned and operated by two Oscar Mayer families. Salvatore’s Ristorante is recognized for their incredible cuisine, upscale atmosphere and expertise at hosting large scale events. The evening will include a full dinner served buffet style, two premium open bars, dancing and a live/silent auction. This Benefit promises to be a memorable evening for our entire Mayer community.

Cost of the event will be $110 per person. Tickets are sale on now. Click HERE to purchase your ticket today.  The event sells out each year, so be sure to purchase your tickets early!

Online Auction – Even if you can’t attend the Benefit, you can still support Mayer and experience the bidding fun! Our online auction will begin on Wednesday, March 22nd and all families will have a chance to bid on (and win!) exciting one-of-a-kind items. Our online auction will showcase fantastic packages, including vacations, staycations, restaurant gift certificates, tickets to sporting events and concerts, and much, much more!

And back by popular demand this year, you will have the opportunity to purchase fabulous professional photos of your EC, ELI and ELII students taken by Kevin Hammett of KH Photography. More details to come about all student projects and other exciting items up for bid in this year’s online auction.

Donations Needed! – In order to make our auction a success, we need YOUR HELP! We are currently collecting items for the Live and Silent Auctions for the Benefit. Suggested items are listed below, but we’ll take any and all ideas!

  • Restaurant Gift Certificates
  • Airline Miles, Hotel Stays and Vacation Homes
  • Amazing experiences for kids or adults (not limited to Chicago area), such as:
    • Being on field at Wrigley
    • TV show tapings
    • Tennis matches
    • Anything fun you can come up with!
  • Tickets to sporting events, theater or concerts
  • Gift certificates for spas, shopping or kid’s classes of any kind!

To help make the process of getting donations easier, you can simply make copies of the Mayer Donation Form. Then bring this form to your favorite local spots. Please contact Stacey Kaplan at with any questions or ideas.

Help us Build an Instant Wine Cellar The Instant Wine Cellar is always a very popular auction item. But we need help to make it great again this year! Please consider donating a bottle (or two) of your favorite wine or champagne. We have partnered with Ezra’s, located at 1128 W. Armitage, to make wine donations as simple as possible. Ezra’s will help you make your wine selections, store your wine for the cellar and donate 10% of your sale back to Friends of Mayer. You don’t only have to buy wine for the cellar! They will donate 10% back on your entire purchase, so visit Ezra’s or call them at (773) 883-8711 and let them do the work for you. If you choose to buy your wine elsewhere, please email Stacey Kaplan at to arrange a wine drop off.

How to Host a Sign Up Party – Do you have a great idea for a sign up party?  Or, a great house or yard and want to volunteer your home? Do you know a business willing to donate a party to Mayer Magnet? – Sign up parties are a fun way to generate funds for the school and a great way to get to know other Mayer parents.  Some examples of past parties are:  Mom’s & Margaritas, Dad’s Poker Night, Sheffield Wine Walk, Bollywood Nights, In-Home Chef Dinner Parties and a down home Crawfish Boil.  If you are interested in hosting a party or have a fun idea, please contact Mandy Shaw at

Volunteers – As you can imagine, it takes a lot of amazing parents to make the Benefit come to life. That’s why we always need more helping hands!  Please contact Mandy Shaw at to volunteer in any way possible – sending follow up emails to businesses regarding donations, setting up on the day-of the Benefit, etc. If you have a little time, we will find something for you to help with. And we will greatly appreciate your help in making this event a huge success!
